Large weevil with a flat oval body, and a pointed shield. Completely covered in short hairs, yellow to brown, sometimes fading to grey. Thick legs and antennae. The snout is hairy and for the ♂ shorter than the ♀. Its habitat is wetland or close to water and it prefers umbellifer flowers. ⇔ l. 12-17 mm
