Top surface brown with light yellow to orange markings. The top surface front wing features 1 eye, rear wing 3 or 4 eyes with a white spot. The underside is lighter in colour with 1 eye on the front wing with a purple glow on the rear wing. ⇔ wsp. 32-42 mm The colours can vary for a number of subspecies, the PARARGE AEGERIA TIRCIS is lighter in colour. Further south we find the PARARGE AEGERIA AEGERIA which is more orange coloured.
