Small brown white butterfly. On its olive-brown to red-brown front wings, there are 2 distinctive silver-white bands, on the rear a white fringe. Active during day and night often in grassland. When resting the head is downwards. ⇔ wsp. 22-25 mm LA: ≈ The ELOPHILA NYMPHAEATA (Brown china mark) also sits with its head down but is lighter in colour and found near waterfronts.
