Small brown marked grasshopper with short antennae and long wings extending the length of the body. The body is often red tipped for both sexes, occasionally there are green variations. Can be found anywhere with vegetation: forests, roadsides or parks. The ♂ can be heard in the daytime and emits a "ttrrr" sound. ⇔ l. 12-25 mm LA: ≈ Difficult to distinguish from the GLYPTOBOTHRUS BIGUTTULUS (Bow-winged Grasshopper) which has a greater colour contrast and the sound of the ♂ is much louder.
