A colourful shield bug, the neck shield and centre shield are yellowish with variable black markings. The back shield is ginger and it has a blocked black/white or yellow rear edge. The belly is white and the legs are orange to white, the antennae are black. It can be found on various flowers and plants. ⇔ l. 11-13 mm Members of the Carpocoris family all look the same although with much colour variation. The differences can be found in the shape of the shields and genitalia (which generally requires a microscope). No wonder they are often mixed up! LA: ≈ The CARPOCORIS PURPUREIPENNIS has brighter colours but less clear markings. ≈ The DOLYCORIS BACCARUM (Sloe bug) is thinner and with light coloured legs, not orange legs.
