Red black long slim bug with a white dot at the end. The shield is red with black markings, the black wings have white markings and distinctively, the white dot is prominent. The antennae and legs are black. Feeds on plant sap. ⇔ l. 11-12 mm LA: ≈ The PYRRHOCORIS APTERUS (Firebug) is often found in large colonies and has different markings, lacking the white dot. ≈ The MELANOCORYPHUS ALBOMACULATUS (Bead Knit Mittens) and the SPILOSTETHUS PANDURUS are of the same family and also have a white dot on the wing. They live more in southern Europe. They can be distinguished by different back markings. See photos LA.
