Large pale brown butterfly with a narrow wing profile and firm body. Especially the large front wing is strikingly serrated, the rear wing is relatively small. The butterfly does not eat anymore. 

The caterpillar is large and green with a small green arrow on the back. The body has some slight oblique stripes that are alternately clear or unobtrusive. The caterpillar lives on oak leaves, preferably cork oak and holm oak.

The caterpillars of this family all have an arrow tail. 
≈ The SPHINX LIGUSTRI (Privet hawk-moth) caterpillar has a black arrow and paired white stripes. 
≈ And the AGRIUS CONVOLVULI (Convolvulus hawk-moth) caterpillar has an orange arrow and black spots on the side.
