A lizard with dark red-brown back with some rows of black dots and large keeled scales on its back. The tail is comparatively long, and the belly is white yellowish. The adult ♂ has a bright blue/green throat, and an orange-red belly whereas the ♀ can have a blue throat as well but paler. Seeking refuge in hedges and shrubbery and at midday, they will hide from the sun. They are very agile climbers, and they feed on smaller animals like worms, bugs, etc. ⇔ l. 20-25 cm, including the tail. syn. Dalamtian algyroides They can be found along the eastern Adriatic coast and on Sardinia and Corsica.
