Snake-like lizard with 9-13 bronze coloured length lines and tiny front legs with three toes. It prefers damp places with shade. It can walk with its feet but this, however, is very slow and if need be it can move like a snake becoming very quick. ⇔ l. up to 43 cm It lives in south-west Europe and hibernates to appear late spring. LA: ≈ The CHALCIDES CHALCIDES (Italian three-toed skink) comes with added tiny rear feet. It can have two long back lines and is found in south-east Europe. No photo available.
