Red wings with black lines and wing edge, long wide antennae. Mainly found in mountainous areas up to 2000m altitude. Prefers wild thyme, and often seen in groups. Older individuals become paler and less conspicuous. ⇔ wsp. 28-35 mm LA: Lookalikes within this ZYGAENIDAE (Burnet moths) family are difficult to tell apart. ≈ The TYRIA JACOBAEAE (Cinnabar moth) has a black front wing with a red stripe and 2 dots.
