A small white butterfly with a particular brown pattern with on the front wings two small circles. Along the rear edge a yellow beige band. Found along river banks, the caterpillars live in the water. Its host is Bur-reed. ⇔ wsp. 18-22 mm syn. NYMPHULA STAGNATA LA: ≈ The ANANIA CORONATA (Spotted magpie) is darker coloured and not water bound. ≈ The ELOPHILA NYMPHAEATA (Brown china mark) sits higher on its legs and often with its head downwards.
