Large brown robber fly, the start of the rear is black ending in bright yellow. A hairy face with a black pointy nose and large brown eyes. The breast is hairy as well, and the brown-yellow wings are darker in colour along the edges. The legs are light brown coloured except the rear thighs that are black. Hunts on small hoppers from an elevated position. ⇔ l. 25-30 mm Found often on sandy or bare lands. LA: ≈ Somewhat like the VESPA CRABRO (Hornet) which is wider and with a red breast.
