Small white-grey geese with two black bars on its head. On both sides, the brown neck has a wide white line. The body is light grey coloured with the belly and breast more brownish. The wings are grey with a wide black rear edge, and the legs and beak are orange. 

The wings are large compared to other geese enabling them to fly at higher altitudes.

Originally from central Asia where they cross the Himalayan mountains when migrating. Sometimes breeding in Europe as descendants of domestic or escaped individuals. 

LA: 
≈ The BRANTA LEUCOPSIS (Barnacle goose) has a black neck and generally much darker. 
≈ The ALOPOCHEN AEGYPTIACA (Egyptian goose) is more beige coloured and with the characteristic eye ring.
