Large colourful shield bug with 'wide shoulders'. Colour can be from purple, red to yellow-brown. The yellow-black blocked pattern at the rear edge is well defined. The neck shield has 4 black lines with a black marking on the tip. Black antennae with a brownish base, the legs are orange-red. ⇔ l. 11-14 mm LA: ≈ The CARPOCORIS MEDITERRANEUS is only found in the Mediterranean, a little lighter coloured and with five clear markings on its back.
