Brown with black chin spot. Well camouflaged in arid areas. Found almost only in the Karoo desert. Monogamous, often hatching in groups with 1 pair breeding and the others assisting. Well adapted to agricultural areas, drinks also at swimming pools. ⇔ l. 58-60 cm syn. HETEROTETRAX VIGORSII
