Small greenish brown lizard with long tail and toes. A small flattened head that inconspicuously passes into the neck and body. The yellow eyes are relatively large. The spots on the back often look like circles. The tail has an annular shape. Belly side is yellow-white without spots. ♀ often stay smaller and have a wider belly. The colours are less prominent and often you see a vague longitudinal stripe on the flanks. Preference for rocks or stone buildings. Is very agile and can move very quickly or hide in the smallest slits. Hunts invertebrates like flies and spiders during the day. ⇔ l. 13-16 cm, of which 2/3 tail. It can, like most lizards, lose its tail when threatened. The tail grows again, but never becomes as long as before. The tail serves as a stir when climbing and as a fat deposit. Until recently, it was seen as a subspecies of the PODARCIS HISPANICA (Spanish wall lizard) that is larger and has a larger distribution area. LA: ≈ The PODARCIS MURALIS (Wall Lizard) is a bit bigger and browner. And actually does not occur on the Iberian peninsula.
