Orange-green butterfly. The topside of ♂ is grey-brown, Topside of ♀ is orange with a broad brown beige edge. The underside of the front wing is orange with a beige edge, black spots on the orange. The rear wing is blue-green with a beige border and has small white dots. The wing is very hairy. The butterfly flies low over the ground and immediately closes its wings when it sits down so that the top is rarely seen. ⇔ wsp. 26-30 mm syn. Cardenillo Often on meadows, up to 1000 m. The caterpillar lives on clovers. It sheds several times with different colours, from mainly yellow to mainly red. The pupa winters and the butterfly is often seen early in the spring. If it is still very cold in the morning, they lie flat on a rock to warm up.
