Medium brown house snail, the colour of the body varies from tan to black with usually a slight stripe in the middle, from the head. The spherical shell is slightly shiny with fine wrinkles and has a distinctive colour pattern from black to light brown. 

Eats vegetables and prefers humid areas, but not too cold.

Originally from the Mediterranean, but distributed worldwide by humans as food and for collections. 

LA: 
≈ The ARIANTA ARBUSTORUM has a flatter shell with a wider opening. 
≈ The HELIX POMATIA (Vineyard snail) is larger, lighter in colour and the thicker shell has a different structure.
