Grey-brown flat spider with a very long abdomen. The sexes are very similar from above. Front body greyish hairy, abdomen greyish brown with contrasting length drawing. The legs are striped. ♀ has red eye rings on a black mask and a yellowish hair band below. ♂ lacks these colours, but has broad probes, like boxing gloves, with brown-purple markings. Like all jumping spiders, remarkably large middle eyes and relatively short legs. Especially on trees and woodwork. Here, a splint is made in crevices or under bark, where the egg cocoons are also guarded by the ♀. ⇔ l. ♂ 6-8 mm, ♀ 8-12 mm LA: This is one of the largest jumping spiders in Europe. The long abdomen is characteristic of the genus MARPISSA.
