Triangular black and white striped butterfly with long tails. The front wing has a narrow yellow track at the front edge. There are bright blue eyespots along the rear wing, the inner ones have an orange border. The black drawing can also be seen at the bottom, but with more colour. In flight, the triangular shape is clearly visible when it floats from flower to flower. ⇔ wsp. 50-70 mm LA: ≈ The IPHICLIDES PODALIRIUS (Scarce swallowtail) is more pale yellow than white. It lives more northern and eastern, only in southern France, both can be fund. ≈ The PAPILIO MACHAON (Old world swallowtail) has different markings and is much yellower. Moreover, the shape is less triangular.
