Shiny green Spreadwing with black and white pterostigmas (wing spots). The head is yellow at the bottom. Light trails run across the chest piece. Often in early drying areas. Sometimes not present in areas for a while to return later. ⇔ l. 40-50 mm syn. Southern emerald damselfly, Migrant spreadwing LA: ≈ LESTES VIRIDIS (Willow emerald damselfly) has completely light wing spots. ≈ LESTES SPONSA (Emerald damselfly) has dark wing spots, this is common in the genus LESTES.
