Small green grasshopper with long hind legs and probes. The eyes are 2-coloured. There are very small black specks on the green body. The wings are remarkably long, especially the rear wings are far out. When flying the grasshopper looks a bit like a butterfly. ♀ has a short curved ovipositor. ⇔ l. 16-20 mm LA: ≈ The PHANEROPTERA FALCATA (Sickle-bearing bush-cricket) seems to speak and there is a considerable overlap in habitat. The thighs, genitals and neck shield are just formed differently. See photo LA. ≈ The LEPTOPHYES PUNCTATISSIMA (Speckled bush-cricket) also has long probes and black dots, but misses the wings.
