Orange with a brown pattern, 1 eye on forewing and 4 eyes on the hindwing. ♂ clear scent stripe on the front wing. The bottom is grey marked with 7 eyes on hind wing and one large eye on the front wing. Likes to sunbathe on warm rocks or walls, often seen along forest trails. ♂ is territorial towards other insects. ⇔ wsp. 35-45 mm
