A black white striped horselike, the stripes are all the way to the hoofs, a white belly without stripes. Short straight mane that is striped as well. The mare lives in groups with one stallion and their young. Other stallions form their own groups or live solitary. Prefer mountainous areas. ⇔ hbl. 220-260 cm, sh. 115-150 cm, tl. 40-55 cm Subspecies include Cape and Hartmanns mountain zebra. LA: ≈ The EQUUS QUAGGA (Plains zebra) has a striped belly and no stripes on the inside of its legs.
