Grey and large with 2 horns on the nose, sometimes a small third one forms. The eyes are placed low on the head, the lips are slightly pointed. The black rhinoceros lives solitary outside breeding period, the ♀stays with the calf. Its diet consists of grasses and it rests in between eating. Likes to cool down in mud or water. ⇔ hbl. 290-375 cm, sh. 137-180 cm, horn size 60-70 cm The "white/black" originates from the Dutch naming the mouth difference "wijd" which sounds like "white" in English. This species automatically became the opposite being black. LA: ≈ The CERATOTHERIUM SIMUM (White rinocerus) has its head lowered more and a neck lump, it also has a normal mouth. The colour is grey as well.
