Yellow beige lizard with prickly scales, chubby body, beige brown head with a grey glow. The scales are very sharp and everywhere, including belly and yaw. This is a gregarious animal active at daytime and during night time it gathers in groups in burrows. ⇔ l. 35-40 cm including the tail. Local to South Africa and smaller than the name indicates.
