Bright red head and legs, yellow black ringed body. Grey black marked front wings folded as a shield on the rear wings. ♀ can not fly despite the fully grown wings. It has GOMPHOCARPUS FRUTICOSUS (Milkweed) as its host plant. ⇔ l. 60-72 mm syn. GRYLLUS MORBILLOSUS, LOCUSTA MORBILLOSUS, Common milkweed locust Local to South Africa.
