A slender beetle with an orange shield with 3 black bands, legs and head completely black with a blue shine. Very hairy, even on the shield. Found on flowers, feeds on plants as well as smaller insects that eat the plant. ⇔ l. 10-18 mm Larvae are carried to beehives where they feed on eggs and larvae or weak bees. Both bee colonies and solitary bees are targeted.
