Large brown black bird of prey with a white head and tail and a fat yellow beak, iris and legs. Both genders have the same markings however the ♀ is larger. Chooses a partner for life. A social bird of prey; known to be nesting and hunting in groups on for example salmon. ⇔ l. 70-102 cm syn. American bald eagle National bird and animal of USA. LA: ≈ The HALIAEETUS ALBICILLA (White-tailed Eagle) has a darker head. ≈ HALIAEETUS VOCIFER (African fish eagle) has a white head, neck and a black bill tip.
