Thin, brown striped back, the belly is yellowish with markings, thin beak and legs and a whitish tail. Very striking large rear toe. Walks with ease then quickly start running looking for bugs. Always alert and immediately flies away if it feels threatened. ⇔ l. 14-16 cm The CUCULUS CANORUS (Cuckoo) often lays its egg in this pipit’s nest. LA: ≈ Very similar to other ANTHUS (Pipits), but the ANTHUS TRIVIALIS (Tree pipit) has more contrasting colours.
