Brown with a lighter head, long wings and a straight tail. ♂ a dark brown back, grey-brown wings and tail top surface, the under surface is rust brown variable, fingers are black. ♀ is more even brown with a lighter throat and cap. Hunts often by flying low over wetland areas looking for small prey. ⇔ l. 48-52 cm These are migratory birds wintering in central Africa and South Asia. LA: ≈ The MILVUS MIGRANS (Black kite) has a forked tail. ≈ De CIRCUS CYANEUS (Hen harrier) has light coloured wings and body.
