Small white egret with a long black beak and legs, the toes are yellow. At the base of the beak, the skin is bare, while breeding this becomes yellowish. Also while breeding the head feathers are longer. Is mostly found near seashore wetlands. Breeds in colonies together with other egrets. ⇔ l. 55-65 cm LA: ≈ The BUBULCUS IBIS (Cattle egret) has a yellow or pinkish beak and yellow legs. ≈ The ARDEA ALBA (Great Egret) is much larger and has a yellow beak base, however, while breeding the beak base is black with pinkish legs. ≈ The PLATALEA LEUCORODIA (Spoonbill) has a large beak.
