Large grey bird with long wings, the neck and head are black with a large white marking on the back and red eyes as well as a red crown. The long pointed beak is yellowish and the legs are black. They fly with stretched necks in a horizontal line or wide V shape and live in flocks. ⇔ l. 110-120 cm syn. Eurasian crane Every summer they moult but once every 3 years the moulting is total, preventing the bird from flying for a month.
