Red-brown camouflaged, lighter coloured throat and belly, the tail and rump are a darker brown. A slim beak and large black eyes with a beige edge. Very inconspicuous bird with a striking song especially at night when other birds are silent. Daytime active looking for food on the ground like insects, worms and berries. ⇔ l. 15-17 cm Migratory bird breeding in Europe and wintering in central Africa. The national bird of Iran.
