Pale grey head and back with beige throat and belly, a chestnut coloured rump and tail. It is called a flycatcher however it eats fruit and waste as well. Common in southern Africa on bare rocky terrain as well as urban areas. This rather tame bird flicks its wings every time it moves. ⇔ l. 14-15 cm syn. OENANTHE FAMILIARIS The African name for this species 'Spekvreter' means 'fat-eater', and comes from the fact that it was feeding on the lard used to grease wagon axles.
