Sand coloured pigeon with a white-edged black neck collar. The wingtips are darker, the tail under surface is white edged. Both sexes look the same. Prefers (sub)urban areas and found often at feeding tables, eating leftovers, bread, grapes and berries. Can have 4 to 5 nests a year even in colder periods. ⇔ l. 31-34 cm Resident bird originally from East Europe but since the last century also in western Europe. LA: ≈ Smaller than COLUMBA LIVIA DOMESTICA (city pigeons). ≈ The STREPTOPELIA TURTUR (Turtledove) has a brown marked back and wingless and 2 neck markings with multiple white lines.
