Grey-brown songbird, with a clear separation between the brown back and lighter belly. While breeding the ♂ belly is ginger coloured and the head greyish. Young still has a white eye edge. Prefers large bushes, the ♂ sings while continuously moving. ⇔ l. 13-14 cm LA: ≈ The SYLVIA COMMUNIS (Whitethroat) has a much longer tail.
