Olive brown even back, light yellow breast with dark dots and a brown tail. The underwings are yellow, visible in flight.

It has a loud distinctive song. Nests are made in a tree or bush appearing to be plastered with wood, sludge and spit.

A migratory bird wintering in south-west Europe and North Africa, breeding in Europe and Asia. In Australia and North America, it is rare. 

LA:
≈ The TURDUS VISCIVORUS (Mistle thrush) is similar but larger with marked wings. 
≈ The TURDUS MERULA (Blackbird) ♀ is a little larger and darker in colour.
