Large pink and green moth. Front wings olive green with a pink edge and 3 purple stripes. Rear wings red with black bands. The sturdy body is green with pink markings. Prefers damp areas like forest edges or IMPATIENS GLANDULIFERA (Policeman's helmet) plants. Both the caterpillar and the butterfly become active at twilight. ⇔ wsp. 45-60 mm LA: ≈ The MIMAS TILIAE (Lime hawk-moth) is greener and has a clearer separation between the colours. ≈ The En DEILEPHILA PORCELLUS (Small elephant hawk-moth), see photo LA.
