With wings folded, looks like a birch branch. Front wing grey marked, wingtip and head are yellowish beige, rear wings are white. Both sexes are same. Can be found in many species of deciduous trees and bushes. Finds a dark resting place in the daytime to be active at night. The caterpillars are yellow with black white stripes. The young caterpillars stay together to feed on the same leaves, just before pupating they separate. ⇔ wsp. 48-65 mm
