Dark brown bird of prey with a relatively long tail and wide wings. The neck features longer gold yellow feathers like a collar. Yellow grey beak and claws. Young birds are very dark with white wing and tail markings. Day-active and it gains altitude up to 3000 meters to spot large birds or mammals to dive at them. ⇔ l. 75-92 cm The name Golden eagle: because of the lighter, gold yellow neck feathers.
