A goose with a white face and black neck and head. A short black beak, the belly and breast are light grey with darker grey wings and black markings. Pairs can choose each other for one season or for life. They form large breeding colonies, feeding is normally in large groups as well. ⇔ l. 58-60 cm A migratory bird breeding between Greenland and Scandinavia and wintering in central Europe. LA: ≈ The BRANTA BERNICLA (Brant goose) has a completely black head. ≈ And the BRANTA CANADENSIS (Canadian goose) has a black face with white throat markings. ≈ The ANSER INDICUS (Bar-headed goose) is lighter in colour with a white head with 2 black bars on it.
