A bird of prey with a dark grey back and head and a lighter coloured under surface. There are faintly hashed lines on the almost white belly, barely visible in flight. Yellow eye outline and beak base, the beak tip is black. The throat is white with dark whiskers. 

It often uses second-hand nests on cliffs or steep edges where it can launch quickly and spot prey easily. Nests can also be on church towers from where it preys on pigeons and songbirds.

Fastest flying and fastest creature on the planet, reaching a speed up to 389 kph when diving. Kills its prey by the impact. Partly migratory.
