A sturdy songbird with red-brown wings, beige belly, white throat and rump and a white band alongside its tail. A light eye outline, the ♂ has a grey cap and pinkish glow on its belly, the ♀ has a brown head. The legs are light brown. Prefers fallow fields and thorny bushes. ⇔ l. 13-14 cm These migratory birds are wintering in Africa.
