The upper surface is orange with black markings, closer to the body more brownish, a distinctive pattern. The undersurface of the front wing is orange black but the tips and rear wings are bright yellow-white with orange markings and a purple glow. Found near small pools. ⇔ wsp. 34-40 mm Very rare. LA: ≈ The upper surface is similar in several of this genus, like the BOLORIA SELENE (Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary) and BOLORIA EUPHROSYNE (Pearl-bordered fritillary). ≈ The BOLORIA DIA (Weaver's fritillary) is also similar except for the under surface which is more blue-purple instead of red-brown.
