The upper surface is even dark brown and can only be seen when flying. The under surface is green with a brown band along the edge. Centrally an intermittent white line, sometimes missing completely. On the rear wings a tiny tail. Always closes its wings when sitting. Found along forest edges and grass patches and heath. ⇔ wsp. 24-28 mm
