Brown-grey mouse with large ears, large eyes and a long tail. Dark back and light grey belly, with a yellow marking on its breast between the front legs. The tail is bald and the under surface of the tail is darker coloured. Mostly active at night living in colonies both in the forest and urban areas. Likes to climb. Stores seeds and fruits but eats insects as well. ⇔ hbl. 8-11 cm, tl. 7-11 cm LA: ≈ Very difficult to separate from the MUS MUSCULUS (House mouse) that is smaller with relatively smaller eyes, ears and the tail is one colour.
