Dark brown goat-like, both sexes have backwards curved ringed horns. The ♂ has a beard. Living on steep rocky slopes, in winter more on south-facing slopes since they struggle to move in the deep snow. ⇔ hbl. 75-100 cm, sh. ♂ 85-94 cm/ ♀ 70-78 cm, tl. 12-25 cm, horns ♂ 100 cm/ ♀ 35 cm syn. ALPINE IBEX, Steinbock, Bouquetin Only in the European Alps. LA: ≈ The CAPRA PYRENAICA (Iberian ibex) is living in the Spanish Sierra Nevada, the horns are turned outwards more noticeably.
