An orange-brown back with a white breast, throat and toes. A long tail with lots of hair and a small plum at the tip. The round eyes, large ears and long nose hairs are specific for this family. Lives alone mostly in trees but the nest is made in shrubs or on the ground. It also winters in this nest. ⇔ hbl. 6-9 cm, tl. 5-9 cm, whiskers up to 3 cm Found in central, south and east Europe. LA: ≈ The MUS MUSCULUS (House mouse) has the same size with a thinner bald tail and smaller eyes.
