Brown speckled rabbit, the belly is lighter coloured to almost white. Large eyes at the side of its head and long ears always up. Strong rear legs, short front legs and the tail under surface is white. Prefers sandy habitats. Lives in colonies in widespread burrows with multiple entrances and one central room. They have 2 types of droppings, one type is eaten for the second time. When threatened they pound the ground as a warning and all flee to the burrow. ⇔ hbl. 35-50 cm, tl. 4-8 cm, ears 6-8 cm syn.
